Please help us congratulate Jill Knittel. Jill has been on the St. John Fisher Alumni board for 5 years and was named President in June.

As the President, Jill will act as a liaison between the college and its alumni and serve as an advisory on major issues and decisions affecting the college. Jill will also assist in raising funds for the college by supporting fundraising efforts and participating in volunteer activities.

This year Eyes on the Future is going to be focused on a cause for action to improve our community here in Rochester. Last year the message from Governor Patterson and business leaders was that Rochester needs to do more with less and get everyone involved. As a community, we listened to solutions and discussed issues and this year we are acting on them.

As a direct outcome of the positive momentum created by the past two Eyes on the Future economic summits, we have added the EyesExpo which will take place before and after the summit. The EyesExpo is a business and career event which will drive specific actions for developing growth and opportunity for the region.

Nearly half of all households headed by women have incomes too small for basic needs. With this economic downfall that number of households has increased and it has become difficult for a lot of women in the Rochester area to live sufficiently on their own. The Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley in greater Rochester area is focused on women’s economic self-sufficiency. They do this by advocating for women and girls through fundraising, education, research and high-impact grant making.

A Purse for Change is an annual live auction that features an array of the most coveted designer purses. Purses will be from designers like Prada, Gucci, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Stuart Weitzman, Issey Miyake, Coach, Moo Roo, and Juicy Couture. This year’s event is scheduled for October 8, 2009 and will be held at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY.
