Nearly half of all households headed by women have incomes too small for basic needs. With this economic downfall that number of households has increased and it has become difficult for a lot of women in the Rochester area to live sufficiently on their own. The Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley in greater Rochester area is focused on women’s economic self-sufficiency. They do this by advocating for women and girls through fundraising, education, research and high-impact grant making.

A Purse for Change is an annual live auction that features an array of the most coveted designer purses. Purses will be from designers like Prada, Gucci, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Stuart Weitzman, Issey Miyake, Coach, Moo Roo, and Juicy Couture. This year’s event is scheduled for October 8, 2009 and will be held at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY.

Tickets are $50.00 and wine and hors d’oeuvres are provided by Max at the Gallery.
