For the job seeker of 2009, myths and negative news can affect the drive and motivation of the individual. The recent stories and negative outlook on the economy can create myths and rumors that can hinder the drive to job hunt.

 

It is important to separate yourself from the negativity and try to guide yourself out of a hopeless stage of unemployment. Job seekers acquaintances may be saying “that company just laid off 200 people, don’t apply there” or “the sales industry is the worst right now, you’ll never find a job.” After awhile these myths are easy to believe.

Building a Twitter Community

Twitter, along with many other social networking sites has become a modern day communication site between anyone who can make a statement worth reading in 140 characters or less. Within those tight requirements people are building an audience and carving themselves into “micro-bloggers.”

 

Twitter is growing at a rapid pace and forming into a world community that has a lot of followers and a lot of non-believers. Job seekers are posting their qualifications, and recruiters are matching them to positions. News reporters are moving from print to online and countries are using it to correlate demonstrations. Look what it did to the Iran Election!

Most employees can not wait for the weekends; TGIF. On Sunday night they are already tweeting or updating their Facebook status with phrases like “hope this week goes by fast” or “why do weekends need to end.” Monday for some is a stomach-turning, Tuesday is gutting through that report and Wednesday is “hump” day, just because we need to look forward to something.

 

So pick your number! Choosing one, means you are at the ultimate low and choosing ten would be the happiest you’ve ever been (or potentially could be). Each morning determine where you stand on the scale of happiness.
