Has your job search slowed during the holiday season? Just because the hiring manager isn’t getting back to you doesn’t mean you should give up the search. Try using this downtime to study up on companies you might be interested in and set your sights on starting a new job in 2012!
· Once you’ve identified the jobs you would like to pursue, write personalized cover letters for each position. Putting in this extra effort will undoubtedly make a
difference!
difference!· Touch up your resume and online profiles. Make sure that all of your documents reflect your most recent experience (although you should try to do this consistently throughout the year).
· Keep networking. Whether it’s via LinkedIn or holiday gatherings, get to know as many people as you can. The more people you connect with the better your odds are of getting a job!
· Be flexible! Some employers want to have all new hires in place by January 1st. This means you will need to make yourself available to interview during the holidays, when most others choose to disconnect.
