Summer is over, the skies are gray, and you’re having trouble getting back in the groove. Here are a few small tips to help you get back on the ride towards productivity!

Clean your desk. Cleaning doesn’t have to be just for spring. Clean out your drawers and redecorate your work space. It will feel new and fresh while hopefully giving you a newfound energy to work hard (maybe?)! If you are REALLY feeling the need for a more drastic change, try moving your office furniture around. Although if you are in a half-pod like me, the craziest thing I can do is move my computer a few inches to the left…

Break your time into 30 minute chunks.
Devote a half hour to a project and then move on to the next for the same amount of time. It will keep you focused on getting as much work done as you can within a small chunk of time. This will keep you from getting bored with a project that you could otherwise be stuck on for the entire afternoon.

Close out of your email. Easier said than done, I know… However, if you are able to close your Outlook for a couple of hours you will be amazed at the amount of work you can get done without the constant “ding” of emails coming through. Make a set time to sort through some emails, and then repeat.
