April is child abuse prevention month, and as multiple members of the ER Associates family are strong advocates for the Bivona Child Advocacy Center, we thought it essential to educate our friends, clients and candidates about the great things Bivona does in our own backyard.

Bivona Child Advocacy Center is a safe, welcoming place where children who have been sexually or physically abused can begin their journey of healing. Bivona staff facilitate an under-one-roof collaboration of social and legal agencies to protect, treat and counsel child victims and their families, and to investigate and prosecute the abusers. Bivona provides a compassionate, efficient, cost effective infrastructure for child abuse intervention.

Our non-profit spotlight of the month shines on Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, NY. Families are stronger when they are together, and their presence helps a sick child heal faster and cope better. While they cannot make medicine taste better or take away painful treatments, they can help lessen the burden and ensure families have the stability and resources to keep their child healthy and happy.

The facts are clear. More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined.  Unfortunately, the killer isn’t as easy to see. Heart disease is often silent, hidden and misunderstood.

The truth is: our lives are in our hands. We can stop our No. 1 killer together by sharing the truth. We can be the difference between life and death. Uncover the truth about heart disease and make ending it a reality.

Without the Hillside Special Santas, many of these families would not have gifts to open or holiday meals to enjoy. HFA has set a goal to provide each child three gifts and each family a grocery card for their holiday meal.

At ER Associates, we are each involved with a variety of non-profit organizations. Each month we will be featuring a different organization or cause that is important to us.  One such organization that a few of us volunteer our time with is the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley. The Foundation helps women and children living in poverty in our region to achieve economic self-sufficiency and reach their full potential by providing educational and philanthropic opportunities that encourage teenage girls to set career goals and give back to their community; and by providing investments in community programs that give a “hand up” to women and their families who are struggling to survive.
