David R. Calus, Technology Division Manager, joined Employee Relations Associates to launch and manage the firm’s technology staffing business. As an experienced industry professional with a diverse background on all levels, including four years as an account executive for a large placement firm and various positions as relationship manager in the IT industry, David brings a balanced perspective and understanding of both the client and candidate side of the staffing business. “Many HR managers don’t understand in detail the technologies and challenges their internal customers face today,” explains David. “My value proposition is that I have the IT background and knowledge base to assist clients in quickly and efficiently filling these important, though often misunderstood, positions.”
David joined Employee Relations Associates after spending more than four years as Account Executive with c1search/consilium1, formerly Advantage Professionals. In this capacity, he was responsible for identifying and qualifying new business that included driving sales of placement and staffing services for this “boutique” professional services firm. In addition, he was responsible for delivery of candidate submittals and growing relationships, which led to additional business. “My experience here really gave me a foothold in the staffing industry as I learned the importance of building and nurturing relationships with clients so that I can be the ‘go-to guy’ when a need arises,” adds David.
Prior to this, he served as Director of Client Relationships for Computer Associates based in their Fairport office, the third largest software company at the time, where he led a team of six sales professionals. In this role, he worked closely with major accounts to identify needs and formulate recommendations around CA products and services for this provider of enterprise management products and services to Fortune 500 companies. Working with technical professionals from front-end users to C-level executives, David played a lead role in educating professionals on the company’s offerings and industry trends.
Earlier in his career, David gained additional experience as Technical Writer at Paychex learning first hand the process and protocol behind business processes and business continuity planning. As an Account Director for iDashes Inc., he played a lead role in the launch and development of this startup Application Service Provider (ASP), where he was charged with overseeing client relations and technical support for a sizable client portfolio. “Throughout my career, no matter what the role, I have been tasked with learning quickly new technologies and clients; that’s my real strength and the common denominator behind my success in account management.”
Out of college, David spent the first five years of his career at Grubb & Ellis, a leader in commercial real estate management, where he held numerous up-through-the-ranks positions related to the management of Bausch & Lomb’s World Headquarters in Downtown Rochester, including Account Manager.
Educationally, David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from SUNY Oswego. As a resident of Webster, he enjoys spending his spare time with his family and three children, as well as working out, playing golf and volleyball.
