March Non-Profit Spotlight

Written by Marissa Lamb

This month’s non-profit spotlight is Junior Achievement (JA) of Rochester. JA is a global non-profit organization that prepares and inspires students to succeed in a global economy by offering in-school and after-school programs in financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. This month, JA of Rochester will be holding the second annual Titan of Business Challenge. The challenge includes high school students throughout the area who will participate in a seven week business simulation program. Students will form three person teams and act as executives of their own company, controlling everything from pricing to marketing. The Titan of Business Challenge creates a bridge from coursework to the business world, without the risk of spending real money and resources.

Hundreds of students are expected to compete virtually in the first round of the competition on March 4th, with the top 35 teams advancing to the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester on March 25th. Each student on the winning team of will be awarded with a $1,000 scholarship to the college of his or her choice.
